Then we went to the island of Koh Phi Phi, on which Steffen had picked out a diving school. Unfourtunatelly, it turned out to be a pure party island with fairly expensive accommodations and people in the dive shops that were not entirely on our wavelength. After 24 hours contemplating, Steffen decided to go to the other side of Thailand to the island of Koh Tao, on which he started ten years ago his scuba diving days. And this was the right decision. Steffens Buddha View diving school is situated on a quiet bay, with incredibly nice and relaxed people, so we quickly felt at home.
Since I also like water, but prefer fresh air around me, it was time now to look at me own pursuits. And there was nothing better than to spend two weeks of holidays with my sister. So I went back again to the West, where Katja arrived by plane.
We visited once again Koh Phi Phi and to my surprise I liked it really much now. Then we drove up the West coast, where we saw beautiful islands around Ao Nang and booked a two-day trip to the breathtaking Similan Islands, where we enjoyed the underwater world with many turtles, colorful fish and octupus and lonely white beaches. An absolute highlight.
The last days of the trip we spent near the border of Myanmar on the quiet, little island of Koh Phayam. We had a nice bungalow and relaxes three days on a secluded, white sand beach. When I brought Katja back to the airport, I got the next homeland visit. My best friend along with herfamily had decided to not spend Christmas time in Germany in the cold but with us in Thailand. Steffen came to the West the same day, so together we spent ten beautiful days on Koh Phi Phi.
After all this wonderful time with family and friends, we were alone again after Christmas and headed back to Koh Tao.
